Fair booth is a big hit

Volunteers find sympathetic audience

Over 40 volunteers staffed the Friends of Hudson booth at the Columbia County Fair over the weekend.

Coordinated by Friends staff and board member Judy Grunberg, the volunteers gathered hundreds of new signatures against the proposed coal-fired St. Lawrence Cement plant, and engaging scores of fair-goers in friendly conversation. This year's raffle prize, a 10-foot Walden kayak, was won by Fred Martin.
