SLC dodges Ghent event

Once again, St. Lawrence Cement is refusing to participate in a public event, this time a forum hosted by the League of Women Voters. The League invited both Friends of Hudson and SLC to present their side of the story, and two Friends volunteers will speak. Yet this Swiss-owned, Canadian-based multinational claims it is too busy and understaffed to attend, despite its small army of paid public relations specialists.

The event takes place at the Ghent Town Hall on Route 66 (near the Dairy Queen) on Tuesday, September 10th at 7:30 pm.

SLC has dodged many similar events, usually opting to send a canned, printed statement instead. Previous invitations refused by the company include debates sponsored by independent groups in Elizaville, Mellenville, Germanton, and Salisbury, among others.
